Intro to Dance

What does a typical Intro class look like?

Students at this level are often old enough to understand the importance of warming up our muscles before we begin dancing, so we have a more intense warm up. Sometimes, Coach Collins gets extra creative with these warm-ups, but usually it begins with students running around the room and performing traveling dance moves (chasses, baby bauttements, high skips, wide skips, releve walks, etc.). Students end this part of the warmup by laying on the floor in a starfish position and regulating their breathing. Then. they will participate in a partner warmup for core work before going across the floor for a full body movement. This warmup takes about 10 to 15 minutes of our class time.

Students will then learn two to three new dances moves before learning a dance combination or part of their routine.

Coach Collins's motto is you're never too old for freeze dance, so this class ends with a cooldown freeze dance to dismiss students.
